Just a few minutes from Montefranco, Casteldilago is a small medieval hamlet suspended between
history and nature, perched on a rocky promontory overlooking the Nera River valley. The
village has preserved its original layout, with narrow alleys, stone houses and evocative
panoramic views opening out over the Umbrian hills and surrounding waterways.
Strolling through its quiet streets, visitors can admire ancient arches, carved stone portals and
the Church of San Nicola, home to valuable Renaissance frescoes. Casteldilago is also an
excellent starting point for walking and cycling excursions along the trails of the Nera River
Park, as well as for visiting the nearby Marmore Falls and Lake Piediluco.
Casteldilago is also known for its local food traditions, especially trout-based dishes and
typical Valnerina recipes, which can be enjoyed in the village trattorias and nearby restaurants.
The tranquillity of the area, combined with the beauty of the landscape, makes a visit here a
truly authentic and relaxing experience.
